It’s pretty hard to hide it, but we like to have fun at BTCchurch. For several years we’ve been making funny videos and the Super Bowl is just one more excuse to do this. Here’s a commercial we came up with that ran in our services.
Thanks to Brian Notess, Chris Chaudoin, Andy Gries, and Jeff Heck for pulling off some great comedic acting. Of course it never hurts to throw in some slap stick.
If you’re a photographer and want to use your skills to give back to those in need please check out Help Portrait an initiative started by photographer Jeremy Cowart. I’m currently in the process of setting something up with the Evansville Christian Life Center as a place to host on December 12th.
Feel free to contact me if you are interested in helping out.
Great post by Dave Smith on Church burnout. It’s a real things and at times I really struggle with burnout. Sometimes I find it easier to do things for God rather than spend time with God. Making myself busy makes me feel important. And then there are demands from my superiors that make me busy as well. Never forsake your first love is what I’m reminded of through Dave’s BLOG post.
During the filming of our DVD content for the Worship Is series we had to cut more than we kept. That’s just the nature of documentary work. Since we have some pretty good stuff that wasn’t used I decided to post some of it here as a VLOG.
This outtake is from me talking about my experience with contemporary worship. I was raised in a traditional church where we sang hymns and so forth. There’s nothing wrong with that, but God used the contemporary worship experience to shake up my view of who He is and how worship can be so amazingly diverse.
Special note: I’m talking to the blinds in my kitchen. They were very engaging.
Special thanks to all the folks who participated in the Worship Is interviews. There were over 20 people that volunteered their time and patience through the interview process.
This is just a brief example of the 30 plus minutes of content being used for the small group DVD curriculum.
This past Sunday’s services were a great example of what can happened when you intentionally focus you time, prayer, planning, and energy on communicating a simple idea. BTCC is taking the next several weeks to focus on what Worship Is. Worship includes so many things that one can not simply teach it in a week!
Pastor Bret posted a great VLOG about this past week. I figure he says what I want to say in a more effective way. So check it.
Just read this post on Zac Parsons’ site. I don’t know Zac, but he makes a powerful point of not giving up. Watch the video and then read his post. Very powerful stuff. Thanks for sharing Zac.
As hard as I work and try my best to do my best for God I can get distracted from just enjoying life. I forget that my works really don’t count for much. A good friend of mine was telling me how much his little girl brings him joy the little things she does. She’s two-years-old and one day decided to write her dad a song. The song’s content was about how much she loved her daddy. This helped Andy relate to how God must find joy in the things we do for Him.
Since becoming a parent I can totally relate. My girls don’t really have to do anything thing to earn my love. I just love them because they are mine. It’s a built in thing that God has designed for the human race. As if that’s not enough, my girls express their love for me in the littlest ways. When I come home from work my two-year-old runs to me saying, “Daddy, Daddy, Daddy,” and my 8-month-old’s face lights up as she starts bouncing up and down.
Let’s never forget that God loved us first. It was nothing we did to earn His love and there’s nothing we can do to ever earn it. We have been made right before God through the sacrifice of His Son. We’ve been justified through the belief in Jesus Christ.
I’ve heard it said that faith plus nothing equals salvation. Isn’t that awesome! Faith in Jesus Christ makes us right with God and there’s nothing else that can do that. There are no works involved. All you have to do is believe and confess with your mouth that Jesus did it all so we can be forgiven.
So, back to my two-year-old. She really doesn’t have to do anything for me to love her. But she does stuff for me because I love her. She’s motivated to do things for me because she knows it brings me pleasure. She’ll run to the closet and get Daddy’s shoes just because she wants to. I hope I can do the same thing for my Heavenly Father. I want to do my best for His glory. But, at the same time I must remember that He loves me for who I am. It can be the littlest of things that brings Him joy. Don’t forget to enjoy the life He’s given you.
